The Silicone Diaries
The Silicone Diaries 02/23/12 To 02/25/12
Nina Arsenault’s tour de force account of her transition from an awkward man into a jaw-dropping silicone bombshell; a process that spanned eight years, sixty surgical procedures and a lifetime of preparation. Blurring the lines between fake and real and playing with the tension between society’s presumed desire for authenticity and its demonstrated preference for the artificial, The Silicone Diaries provides us with a peek into the personal obsessions of those who are driven to transform their bodies. At the same time, it is a frank exploration of the contradictions associated with the quest for beauty.

FRESCO
FRESCO 03/28/12 To 03/31/12

Presented by BellaLuna Productions with Vancouver’s Italian Cultural Centre

The World Premiere of FRESCO, a new play by award-winning playwright Lucia Frangione, developed with the BellaLuna Ensemble.

When Rosina, a present-day Vancouverite, inherits the family home in the city’s Strathcona neighbourhood, she looks through the keyhole of her past to find its ghosts, history and family secrets.
She uncovers generations of secrecy surrounding her Italian grandfather’s internment during World War II, when Fascist Italy joined forces with Nazi Germany. The move put Italy at war with Canada and threw Italian communities across Canada under deep scrutiny and suspicion.

FRESCO examines the impact of that time on not just Rosina’s grandfather but also several generations of his family and Canada’s Italian community overall.

Ticket Prices: $25 (adults) / $15 (student/senior/equity)
